During a share, Tidepool will upload your photos at a potentially optimized
size. That is, if your original photos are larger than 600x600 pixels,
Tidepool automatically reduces the size so you don't have to suffer lengthy
uploads. (If you have chosen to archive your originals,
then we will upload the full file.)
The "webified" photos are optimized to look great when you
and your friends browse them on the web. In addition, with this smaller
size, you can easily upload 1000s of photos.
We also transfer the tags associated with your photos. This makes it
fun to be able to also browse your photos on Storymill
by Box, Story, and Tags.
The Share Dialog
This is where you can see:
- the number of items you have selected to share,
- the amount of space available in your account,
- the size of the upload;
And you can:
- select who you want to be notified via
e-mail about these photos
- choose public or private share type
- manage your contact list
- add free-form e-mail addresses
- initiate the actual share

Once you complete the settings in the share dialog, press "Share
Now!" to initiate the share process. Details of the share dialog
follow:
Who gets notified?
You can select who will receive an e-mail notifying
them of the photos you would like them to see. For Who tags, you can have
an e-mail address defined. Simply click the checkbox next to each name:

Clicking the topmost checkbox above the column, toggles between selecting
all valid email contacts, or deselecting all.
You can also paste in ad-hoc e-mail addresses and press "Add to
Contacts" button.

This method creates a "contact" for each email address, but
not a visible who tag. A contact is useful for folks who you send share
notifications to, but for whom you do not have the need for them to be
a Who tag.
You can always edit a "contact" and promote them to be Who
tags. For contacts, you will see the "Add to my Who Tags" button.
Click it to make the contact appear as a regular Who Tag on the dock.
Private or public?
You control if the photos are publicly shared ("The whole world
can see them"), or if they are privately shared to just
the friends you select.
Public photos are available for anyone to browse. You do not need to
log in to Storymill to see the public photos.
Private photos are only visible to those friends to whom you choose
to share the photos with. Your friends will have to create an account
in Storymill in order for them to see your photos. When you browse your
photos online, you will see private photos marked as such.
This security enables you to confidently share photos knowing that the
public will not be able to see the photos.
Archive Originals?
If you select to archive your originals, we will transfer the photo file
to our secure server facility, where it will be safely maintained.
Capacity Available
How much of the space available on the web for your photos is currently
used. And, how much total space you have in your account.
Notification Emails
These emails will arrive in your friend's mailbox, telling them that
you have sent them some photos (using your account name). For example:

When your friends go to browse the photos, they are grouped in terms
of this mailing. This makes it easy for your friends to see your photos—even
when you have shared them publicly. When they click on the link in the
email, they will see something like:
